Sa Marina

Sa Marina beach is located in northern Mallorca between the popular resorts of Port d’Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa. Many come by the beach on their trip to the Formentor Peninsula.

The beach in general
Sa Marina is a narrow sandy beach deep in the Pollensa Bay, Bahia de Pollenca. Such a location often shields from waves and wind, but this does not apply to Sa Marina.

Here there is plenty of wind, in fact so much so that Sa Marina is known as a kitesurfing paradise. Nowhere else in Mallorca are so many kitesurfers seen practicing their fascinating sport. It is simply an impressive sight to see the many kitesurfers flying across the water with their colorful kites.

With the many kitesurfers there is usually a lot of activity on the beach. However, there are no facilities on the beach and just behind the beach there is a relatively busy road, so there are usually not many beachgoers besides the kitesurfs and their family/friends.

The views of the Tramuntana mountains and Pollensa Bay are stunning, not least with all the colorful kites in the sky. No wonder many drivers take a little break here.

Child friendliness
The many kitesurfers are of course very exciting to look at for children, but you should rather take the kids to the very child-friendly beaches of Port d’Alcudia or Puerto Pollensa.

Water sports
Sa Marina is the preferred meeting place for kite surfers. Close to the beach it is possible to buy or rent equipment, and there are several providers of lessons in kitesurfing – also for beginners.

Beach restaurants
There are no restaurants at Sa Marina, but the kitesurf shop Pura Vida also serves as a small café with a few tables and chairs outside.

Holiday villages close to Sa Marina
Mallorca’s most popular resort town of Port d’Alcudia are a few kilometres away, as is Puerto Pollensa. The nearest hotel is the four-star PortBlue Club Pollentia, located less than 500 meters from Sa Marina. It is a large hotel with a focus on sports, such as windsurfing, diving and tennis.
