Cala Ratjada is situated about three kilometres from Capdepera and is one of the most eastern resorts in Mallorca.
The beach in general
Son Moll is the largest and best known beach in Cala Ratjada. Son Moll is a 150 metres long and about 50 metres wide beach with fine white sands. The water is clear with a beautiful turquoise colour.
Son Moll has many visitors and it is very difficult to find a parking space. The nearest bus stop is only 50 metres from the beach.
The first few metres into the sea is okay but then the sea shelves quite steeply.
No water sports, not even pedal boats.
Sometimes it is possible for snorkelers to watch some colourful fish on the right side of the beach.
Restaurants by the beach
There is a café/bar on the beach and several restaurants not far from the beach.
Cala Rajada holiday resort
Cala Ratjada was once a quiet little fishing port. Today the lovely harbour is most full of yachts and sailboats. Also, from the harbour Cape Balear runs a daily fast ferry transportation from Cala Ratjada to Ciutadella in Menorca.
In the evening, a walk along the impressive promenade Avinguda d’America is highly recommended. The streets behind the promenade are also nice, and have a good selection of shops and restaurants.
The hotels are scattered throughout the city. The 4-star Prinsotel La Pineda is centrally located, but the beaches of Son Moll and Cala Agulla are still within walking distance from this family-friendly hotel. The charming harbour area is also within walking distance of the hotel.
