Cala en Cranc
Cala en Cranc is a small beach on the outskirts of the holiday resort of Camp de Mar in western Mallorca. The distance to the capital, Palma de Mallorca, is about 30 kilometres by car.
The beach in general
Cala en Cranc is a narrow pebble beach set inside a beautiful and rather hidden bay of the same name. Behind the beach, steep cliffs rise sharply, with large trees growing along the top. This gives the place a wilder and more untouched atmosphere.
The beach is less than 100 metres long, and even at its widest point it is only around 6-8 metres wide. There is therefore not room for many visitors, but in our experience the beach is rarely busy. This is mainly due to the lack of sand and facilities.
There are no sunbeds, showers, toilets or beach bar at Cala en Cranc. In return, you get peace, quiet and a different kind of natural beach experience from the more classic sandy beaches on Mallorca. It is not a beach for everyone, but for visitors who enjoy small rocky bays, clear water and a calm atmosphere, Cala en Cranc has a charm of its own.
Child-friendliness
With its many stones and very narrow beach area, Cala en Cranc is not particularly child-friendly. If you are travelling with children, the beach in Camp de Mar is a much better choice. It is only about 1 kilometre to the east and offers sand, facilities and far more space.
Water sports
There are no water sports at Cala en Cranc, but the bay is well suited for snorkelling, especially on days when the water is calm and clear.
Beach restaurants
There are no restaurants, kiosks or beach bars at Cala en Cranc, so remember to bring plenty of drinks. The nearest restaurants and shops are in Camp de Mar.
Nearby resorts
The nearest holiday resort is Camp de Mar, a newer resort with a large and attractive sandy beach. On the outskirts of Camp de Mar is the well-known Golf de Andratx, and there are also good walking routes in the area.
