Attractions on Mallorca

Mallorca offers much more than beautiful beaches and sunny holidays. The island is also home to charming mountain villages, dramatic coastlines, family attractions and some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the Mediterranean.

One of the great advantages of Mallorca is its size. Most attractions and experiences are located less than an hour’s drive from the popular beach resorts, making it easy to combine relaxing days by the sea with exciting day trips around the island.

Below, we have gathered some of the best attractions and experiences on Mallorca – all easy to combine with a relaxing beach holiday.

Coastal nature and scenic experiences

Mallorca is famous for its varied beaches, and the same diversity can be seen in the island’s landscapes – from steep cliffs and hidden coves to mountain roads and protected natural parks.

    • Formentor – spectacular peninsula in northern Mallorca with dramatic viewpoints, beautiful nature and Cala Formentor, one of the island’s most beautiful beaches.
    • Serra de Tramuntana – impressive mountain range with winding roads, panoramic views and charming villages surrounded by olive groves and citrus trees.
    • Torrent de Pareis – one of our favourite nature experiences on Mallorca. A dramatic gorge leading down to a small and unique beach between towering cliffs.
    • Cabrera – peaceful island south of Mallorca with untouched nature, small secluded beaches and the iconic sea cave Cova Blava. Easy to visit by boat from Colonia Sant Jordi.
    • Cuevas del Drach – fascinating caves with impressive stalactites, underground lakes and classical music concerts.

Most of these experiences are easiest to explore by rental car, although both Serra de Tramuntana and Formentor are also extremely popular among cyclists.

Villages, towns and local atmosphere

Mallorca is known for its charming villages and relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere. Several of Mallorca’s mountain villages also have charming harbour towns with beaches and waterfront restaurants.

    • Deià – idyllic village with an artistic atmosphere and spectacular surroundings overlooking the sea.
    • Sóller – charming town surrounded by orange and lemon groves. Known for its historic tram, lively square and traditional architecture.
    • Alcúdia Old Town – historic town with impressive medieval walls, cosy streets and excellent restaurants.
    • Valldemossa – one of Mallorca’s most picturesque mountain villages with narrow streets and beautiful stone houses.

The island’s capital, Palma de Mallorca, is also well worth a visit. Palma combines shopping, tapas bars, cafés and historical attractions such as the cathedral La Seu and the royal palace La Almudaina. Several beautiful beaches are located just outside the city centre.

    • Marineland – dolphin shows, aquariums and family activities. There is also a lovely beach directly in front of the park.

Water parks on Mallorca

If you need a break from the beach, Mallorca has several excellent water parks spread across the island.

    • Aqualand El Arenal – the island’s largest water park and our recommendation for older children and teenagers.
    • Western Water Park – large water park near Palma Nova with a western-themed setting.
    • Hidropark – smaller and very family-friendly water park in Port d’Alcúdia.

Some of the parks focus on thrilling slides and adrenaline, while others are better suited for smaller children and relaxed family days.
